CE Forums are beginning to collect "spam" posts from opportunists.
See Homeschooling topic. An auto transport firm has intruded its commercial.
CE staff, please delete this and develop some sort of policing system.

Thanks...
I'm going to start jumping up and down a little louder about this.
Right now, moderators are not able to edit or delete the initial post of a thread. (for instance, I cannot touch your post up above)
This is definitely an oversight on the developer's part, and needs to be addressed asap.
Thanks again!

So you are a moderator?
Here is another one for you if you are.
I have tried to send e-mail from my CE service to a friend at comcast but the e-mail is rejected as originating on a server that has a pattern of e-mailing indicating it is a spam source.
For the same friend's e-mail address, I don't have a problem at another service I use.
The service that issues the warning wants someone from CE to contact them. I have the information saved.
I posted about this in another thread but so far have not received any answer.
Regarding the design shortcomings, we could write several books, in my amateur opinion.
PS for CE Technical Support: The navigation options (1 2 Next, etc) for a long thread need to appear at the top of the thread as well as at the bottom.

Hmmm. Just revisited the afefcted forum and it appears as if the CE moderators got to the intruder. What you posted is now somewhat mystifying.

There are CE moderators...
Then there are the real, big guns. :-)
They must have deleted that post (I saw it too).
Tech Support (for lack of a more official title) would be the one to do anything technical. Including Mail.
Moderators are just for...well...moderating.
An extra pair of eyes.

Hi Old Sigma,
If you could e-mail me the Comcast information, that would be great. We'll try to fix the problem.
My e-mail is bhickey@catholicexchange.com
Thank you!

For bhickey: It's on its way.
I will try to delete the thread topic I started explicitly for this problem.

(New kid on the block, just waiving a hand.)
Is spam simply something that you don't relate to or is there some rule of thumb for picking on spamers???

grumpy,
This is beyond my expertise, but simply based on my observations.
As I understand it, spam is a post which obviously has nothing to do with the thread, or even the forum, often with numerous ads, links, gibberish, or offensive words and phrases. It is often untraceable and is just deleted.
A combot is a poster who makes the same comment all the time, no matter what the topic. This is sometimes able to be traced back to a person.
A troll is a poster who lurks in a comment box and then highjacks the thread into a discussion of his own, often name-calling and attacking people who have posted. Again, this is sometimes traced back to a person.
All of these are disruptive and not allowed by the rules of the CE forum. Go to the "Faith and Life" section of the CE forum and read the first entry, called "Forum Rules" where Mary Kochan notifies us of the rules.

I'm going to guess a little bit about the meaning of your question as it isn't all that clear to me.
Someone who posts spam to the CE Forum is an intruder, something akin to a litter-bug who trespasses on your front lawn, or into your driveway, and leaves their litter behind. It is rude, and frequently crude.
As a behavior, spamming is always repudiated and blocked if possible; deleted if not, whenever the community can make itself heard. It's like junk mail in the snail mail system. If you keep it, it's mainly for starting a fire in the fireplace on a chilly autumn night.
I hope this provides you with the necessary education.
P.S.: Why are you foregoing your hand?

God loves you .
If I don't recognize it as something I have been 'in on' somehow - it's spam . . .
Subjective? yes - why spammers get away with so much.
Remember, I love you, too

Re: ron_commodity's post:
The referenced post is commercial spam. It violates the TOS of CE I believe.
CE Monitors and admins, please take note and delete along with any other appropriate action you may deem sufficient.
