I STILL WANT IT (He’s BA-ack . . .)

Clearly, I enjoy all that CE and the roundtable offer. I am all over the map. However, it is a little like nibbling at the appetizers as if it is the whole meal . . .
I have asked and ask again for a forum for Christian and adult discussion of the Bible, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, the books all about us, the more modern media (exactly absent television, which I abhor) such as film of its cultural aspects – the intellectual side of this exchange and roundtable. Exempli gratis, the lively and vivid discussion about The Nativity Story belongs there.
I am at heart an intellectual. I was married to a woman quite precisely because she was the most sophisticated intellectual – well read, a devoted student, a pious Catholic – I ever knew. (Protestant ministers considered her a theologian of the first water; her Marianism was at once seriously thought-provoking and cheerfully kind, like her (and our) very Queen Mother herself would want . . .)
I am cerebral in all and with all. And, of Bible, etc., I make my way through the rest of this life left to me. For me, of ritual, dispense the absolution for my Confession, grace and bless me with my Lord-Eucharist, and you can have the insipid music and alleged communiality. I KNOW that the average pew-dweller not only cannot name Ten Commandments or Seven Sacraments – he doesn’t seem to care to know, or know why he should know. The intellectual challenge is snuffed out in absolute and nearly despairing shock.
Here, at Catholic Exchange and among the company at the roundtable, of what matters to me, there are opportunities to discuss that which ‘reason’ does for ‘faith’. And, if I stand to one side, arms akimbo, and blast with ridicule at SPORTS?!?! of forum and headline, it is in part because I find no forum that my intellect wraps itself around. (Wanna talk of Bears? After 1985, what? Of baseball Cubs? After Ernie Banks helped me to set racism into the trash can with his classiness on and off the field, what else, of any import to salvation? Even in SPORTS?!?!, my intellect holds forth over my ‘fan-dom’; I am not a partisan as much as an arm-chair coach; a strategist, not a hot-dog hot dog.)
That said, keep your SPORTS?!?! . . . I suggest in cold storage of a December afternoon at Soldier Field. I want a forum for and of and about the Bible, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, the books all about us, etc. I will even talk of TV if I but slur and slam it.
I have found in ‘Pristinus’ that ‘Sapienter’ is a great and avariciously curious drive in me. Please, hear me this one last time, and I will simply and silently wait to see the results . . .
I remain your obedient (and crabby) servant, but God's first,
Pristinus Sapienter

PS: Does any other CERT regular think that I am out-of-line, here? Do you think that I ask for something we already have, somehow? Would such a forum interest you or turn you aside to other things?
And, why DON'T we dress little boys in pink? (Bring the 'Little Lord Fauntleroy' look back . . .)

Pristinus,
Until we build up a bigger community in the CE forums, we don't want to fragment the discussions by opening up too many sub-forums. At this time, our Faith and Life forum covers the topics that you mentioned: the Bible, the Catechism, the media, etc.
Once we get bigger, we can certainly expand to focus on more specific topics. One idea that was proposed was a Men's forum, focusing on the particular needs and interests of the Catholic man.
And there's no way that I would dress my son in pink, esp. because we live in San Francisco. And no (Stanford) red either, because I'm a Cal Bears fan. Today is the Big Game. Go Bears!

I'm with you PS. I, too, suffer from intellectualism most times. I say suffer because sometimes it would be a God-send not to overthink and to have a simplicity from the heart that is pure and complete.
I can see bhickey's point, though. Patience and prayer - and word-of-mouth to bring them all here. Then, I, too, will happily join you in the sections on the Bible, the Catechism, and great Books.

I have made my declaration heard.

Mr. Hickey, I vote with PS and lpioch.
Come on. How can this be a Catholic Site with no hearth for the More's and other Thomases?
If you can't see the way to providing a thematic forum as described, set up a free-for-all forum.

Just a whiney reminder . . .
. . . . a forum for and of and about the Bible, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, the books all about us, etc. . . .

At first glance, it does appear the forums are limited. My experience has been more forums create more discussion not less.

Could it be that the techies-that-be are having enough trouble keeping email flowing?
Besides, giving Pristinus Sapienter yet another forum may keep them awake some nights. Lord knows my keyboard exhibits a 'big wind-bag'.

IMO the more there is of your posts here, the more interesting the forums are and the greater the traffic. That should make the bean-counters behind the scenes happy.

Been looking for you. I myself haven't been too active here with posts but I have been visiting. The invasive exploratory heart exam is in two weeks. Please keep her (gdaughter Jewel) in your prayeers.

Been looking for me, too -
Loneliness drives a certain kind of diminishment of oneself that comes from having no one to mirror me - even if in some cracked and/or bizarre way - back to my silent self.
It takes more than exchanges of words - smiles and grimaces and such come into play.
Peace to all in remembering our valorous dead and still-living defenders of freedom and faith.

wljewell, There are thousands of Catholic singles groups where you could easily find a faithful woman. According to your photo, I will say that you are a distinguished, handsome, robust, masculine, faithful romantic in need of someone to love.
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen
