Mark the time.
Have any of you experienced slow or failed attempts to get a site name resolved around this time?
The data name server in this locale couldn't even resolve google.com!
(It's a shame there isn't a more technically oriented thread on this forum.)

If you couldn't load google.com or any other site, then it would be the problem with the internet service provider you (or your library...if that's where you are) use.  Definitely not a CE issue.

That's how I usually try to decide if CE is having the problem or if it is something else.  If CE is slow to load, I try yahoo.com (or google would be better with less graphics).  If they pop up quickly, I know the CE server is having issues.  If they are slow as well, then the problem is most likely the internet service provider.

Never fun.

I still say these darn computers are simply a necessary evil.  :-)

Re: lpioch's post:

"Definitely not a CE issue."

Sorry, I wasn't clear.  I understood there was not a CE issue at work.  My basis for raising the question here is that this was one of the sites I could get to where I knew a lot of people were potentially active in cyberspace.

I was wondering if on the day in question (4 Nov) at or around the time of my post (3:30 PM) anyone had experienced anything similar from their locale.

I was looking for a data point outside of my local net.

Maybe with that clarification, someone may recall an oddity too, but at this remove, it would have had to be pretty serious to be remembered.

BTW: Back at home now.

Regards,
Old Sigma (Cradle Catholic [Latin rite] & generally inveterate amateur)
